The oldest mother in the world gave birth to twins 2 years ago and left them.

Today, late motherhood would no more surprise anyone. You can often meet 40 year old mothers with newborns at the playground. However, there are cases when women give birth to children after 50 or even 60 years with the help of IVF. In this case, of course, the future mom takes a huge risk. As a result they have to face many health problems, and they don’t even know how many years are left for them to live.

In some countries the governments take measures on limiting the age of women when they can become mothers. While this law hasn’t been adopted yet, some women manage to give birth quite late. There are few such cases. One of them is María del Carmen Bousada de Lara from Spain. This woman dared to have a child at the age of 67, and because of this she was then listen in the Guinness Book of Records. And she had twins. In 2006 she gave birth to two boys and named them Pau and Christian. Despite their small weight (1600g) and the mother’s considerable age, the babies were born pretty healthy.

This Spanish woman got pregnant thanks to IVF procedure. In order for her to be able to do the procedure, she reduced her age by 12 years. Besides, the woman wasn’t married. And to the doctors’ questions she replied it was her business whether to get married or not. It was María’s first pregnancy.

The woman’s mother lived a long life and passed away when she was over 100 years old. So María thought she still had many years to live and decided on having children so late.

However, fate had its own way! The woman got cancer and passed away when the babies were 3 years old. María’s younger sister adopted the boys. She didn’t have her own children.

The sister had promised the deceased, that she wouldn’t hide the truth from the boys, and would tell them who their real mother was. And would also tell them how she risked her health to give life to them!
